ClubNat - Clothes optional venues for women

Frequently Asked Questions about ClubNat

Listed below are the most frequently asked questions about ClubNat.

Question

1

Is ClubNat a women's only club?

Only women can join ClubNat so Yes ClubNat is a women's only club.

Question

2

But you allow male guests?

Yes ... that's correct.

Only women can join ClubNat but our members can invite a guest irrespective of gender to any of our venues.

Question

3

Why not set ClubNat up as a couples club?

We have had quite a few questions about this so ...

The Equality Act 2010 defines a couple as two people being either married or in a civil partnership (See here). This means a couple's only club could not accept, for membership, anyone who are friends, family (e.g. mother and daughter), dating, engaged, separated or divorced.

By setting ourselves up as a women’s only club and allowing members to sign a guest in regardless of gender, we are open to a far larger section of the UK.

Question

4

ClubNat does seem to be picking on single men. Why?

In the UK there are significantly more men wanting to try naturism than there are women. This leads to a gender imbalance in most clubs, and this in turn puts women off joining, which exacerbates the problem. We want to ensure a good gender balance at our club.

Question

5

Is it legal to discriminate against men in this manner?

We won’t bore you with all the legal speel but will refer you to the following parts of the Equality Act 2010:

ClubNat as a single-sex association for women (protected characteristic of sex) is allowed, by law, to refuse men entry to our venues and membership of our club.

Question

6

Is ClubNat not just an underhanded way of stopping single men?

This depends on your viewpoint. If you’re a single man wanting to find a naturist club with a healthy 50:50 ratio of men and women then you might think ClubNat is an underhanded way of keeping you out. However, if you’re a women looking to find somewhere to enjoy a nude sauna or a skinny dip in a safe and balanced environment then there is nowhere better than a ClubNat venue.

Question

7

Why setup another naturist club?

The old Sex Discrimination Act 1975 allowed a Private Members Club to discriminate on the grounds of sex which is how many of the existing naturist clubs got away with operate their sex balancing rule.

However, under the Equality Act 2010 the rules have changed. Any club (Private Members or otherwise), whose membership is made up of both men and women, is now classified as a mixed-sex association. This means they can not discriminate against any of the protected characteristic groups in the services they provide or in who they accept for membership.

So, all mixed-sex naturist clubs now have to open their membership up to both men and women equally. The only associations allowed to legally discriminate are associations who have been setup for a specific protected characteristic e.g. a women's only club.

Question

8

Is ClubNat a lesbians club?

No ... Any woman can apply to join ClubNat irrespective of colour, race, religion, sexual orientation etc. We do not discriminate against any woman for any reason so a lesbian or a lesbian couple are welcome to join ClubNat but we are not a club solely for lesbians.

Question

9

Is ClubNat a swingers club?

Absolutely not.

The ClubNat committee are striving to create a safe haven where ClubNat members and their guests can enjoy the innocence of a nude sauna or a skinny dip without the unwelcome advances and glances of unattached men. Any member(s) or guest(s) who displays any form of overt sexual behaviour will be immediately expelled from the venue and placed on the ClubNat banned list.
