Child Safeguarding Policy
Policy
- Children have the right to be protected from all forms of abuse and harm at all times and in all situations. Child Safeguarding is the responsibility of every adult.
- Children also have the right to be respected and to express their views on any issues or decisions affecting them.
- In our group, if we have suspicions about a childs physical, sexual or emotional well being, we will take appropriate action.
Procedures
General
- A child is anyone under 18 years of age. This is in line with The Children Act 2004, which should inform and guide us in the operation of this policy.
- Children are most welcome to attend our swim evenings only, but only with a parent/carer. In the event of a child attending with an adult other than a family relative, we do insist on written approval of the child attending a naturist swim from the parent, naming the carer and including the parents address and contact phone numbers.
- ClubNat will appoint a Child Safeguarding Officer (CSO) and an alternate (ACSO). Standard CRB checks will be carried out on the CSO and ACSO.
- We will not investigate suspicions of child abuse. The CSO will gather sufficient information to pass on to Social Services or the Police, for their investigation.
- The CSO will attend appropriate training every three years, organised through British Naturism, Wiltshire Social Services or some other agency.
- The CSO is responsible for:
- Monitoring and recording concerns
- Making referrals to social services without delay
- Liaison with other agencies
- ClubNat members and their guests must, on their first visit, sign an undertaking that they are not on the Sex Offenders Register, and that they have not been barred from any naturist event or organisation.
- Information about undesirable characters will be shared with other clubs and swims.
- No photography of any child is allowed during any ClubNat event, whether the child is clothed or not.
- In all matters regarding Child Safeguarding, we consider that maintaining the confidentiality of all persons involved to be important. However, this will not be a higher priority than the paramount need to ensure that children are protected, and that suspected child abuse is reported to the appropriate authorities.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or before any other activity involving children is considered by ClubNat.
